STEP 1: Complete 60 hour Sales Associates
Schedule 60 hour pre license class by filling out the enrollment form and paying for the class. The cost of the class is $425. This includes the cost of the exam prep ($75)
STEP 2: Apply for Exam
Once you have successfully completed the required 60 hour course, it is time to apply for the state exam by mailing the Pre-License course certificate, Completed Application, $50 application fee to the Arkansas Real Estate Commission. Make cashier's check or money order payable to Arkansas Real Estate Commission. AREC will contact you about scheduling your fingerprint background check. Once background check is complete, you will receive a letter in the mail approving you to take your real estate exam. You must bring this paper to your testing site.
STEP 3: Study for Real Estate Exam
You will use the resources and information given during the class to study for the exam. There are multiple study tools that will be discussed during the class.
STEP 4: Schedule Real Estate Exam
Once you are prepared to take the exam, reach out to the local testing center to schedule a time to take the exam. There is a $75 fee each time the exam is taken. Remember to bring your approval to test form with you to the test.
STEP 5: Select a Brokerage
Once you have passed your exam, it's time to decide which Brokerage you want to work for. Once licensed, you have 60 days to decide on a Brokerage and have your exam papers signed by the Broker and sent to the AREC.
STEP 6: Apply for membership at the Board of Realtors and Pay Dues
Once are signed up with a Brokerage, you will need to apply for membership through the Board of Realtor's website. The Board of Realtors (NABOR) will then contact you to start your new agent classes and give you access to the MLS, forms, and other systems. Keep in mind, you will have to pay a pro-rated amount for your annual dues, as well as several other new agent fees through the board. So that you are prepared, please contact the NWA Board of Realtors directly to find out complete cost for you. The board fees are due 30 days after signing with a Brokerage.
